EXCLUSIVE | ‘NRL team in every state’ Nick Politis weighs in on expansion
Sydney Roosters chairman Nick Politis joined Wide World of Sports ahead of this Friday night’s grudge match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Nick Politis joined Mark Levy and Brad Fittler and reflected on the rivalry between the two clubs adding that last year’s Finals game was “probably out of control” due to the media and everyone is “still talking about it”.
“Hopefully, the blokes are going to be more sensible and play instead of doing what they did last year. It should be a great game,” Mr Politis said.
The Roosters Chairman also spoke about expansion within the NRL saying that the league “has to grow” and revealed that he recently suggested the idea of considering 20 teams.
“I think everybody’s a bit shocked, but if we’re going to be a national sport and want to grow our revenue, we have to grow our sport and be in every state.”
“We’ve got to talk about it and work towards it, you’ve got to go forwards not backwards.”
