‘Worst last week in the history of Australian politics’: Sam Dastyari slams NSW Labor
A former Labor senator has slammed Michael Daley’s unsuccessful state election campaign.
Sam Dastyari, who resigned from the Senate in 2018 after a Chinese donations scandal, tells Ray Hadley the final week of the campaign was “a trainwreck”.
“The last week of the campaign, putting John Hewson aside, was the worst last week in the history of Australian politics.
“I mean it was one disaster to another.”
Although rumours are swirling that Mr Daley will be challenged for the Labor Party leadership, Mr Dastyari says it will likely be put on hold until after the federal election.
“The federal party, led by Bill Shorten, obviously do not want an internal party ballot right now.”
