Return and Earn leaves taxpayers ‘absolutely’ shortchanged
The state opposition says residents are being left out of pocket because they can’t access refunds under the return and earn scheme.
The Opposition says consumers are paying more for drinks, without having easy access to outlets offering a 10 cent refund.
In the six months since it started, people in New South Wales have paid $268 million more for their drinks due to the cost of the scheme, but we’ve only received about $54 million in refunds.
Shadow environment minister Penny Sharpe tells Ben Fordham consumers “absolutely” have the right to feel shortchanged.
“The rollout of this scheme has just been a disaster.”
