Ford finished 2023 with its Ranger ute the top selling vehicle of the year posting
63,356 sales, just 3272 fewer sales that it managed for the whole of 2022. The
success of the Ranger ute last year saw it represent 72 per cent of the Blue Ovals
sales. Sales of the Everest SUV also up 46 percent becoming Ford’s number 2
seller while its Transit Custom Van posted an impressive 66 per cent sales
increase. Much of Ford’s success with its Thai-built products rested on the
decision early in the year to lease its own cargo ship to ensure it wasn’t reliant on
outside contractors. Locally, it hasn’t had the best start to the year with its
converted U.S. built F-150 pick-up – sales halted on January 2 due to a
turbocharger problem and a safety recall this week to rectify a potential steering
fault.
