Peta Credlin warns Scott Morrison against ‘arrogance’ as PM hits campaign trail
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has “no doubt” begun his election campaign, spending four days touring Victorian businesses.
Former chief of staff to then-prime minister Tony Abbott Peta Credlin told Jim Wilson Mr Morrison will need to focus on addressing everyday household concerns, rather than international issues and long-term targets.
The “very, very canny” professional politician is far from being on the back foot, she said, but has a few pitfalls he’ll need to avoid.
“I think he’s had own-goals, he’s had problems with language – ‘it’s not a race’, ‘I don’t hold the hose’.
“He’s got to be careful that this sound and appearance of arrogance doesn’t creep in – that’s a real death knell for him.”
